Project Coordinator/Estimator

Requirements:

  • 2 years’ steel estimating and project coordination experience within the steel construction industry
  • 2 years’ steel detailing experience preferred, but not mandatory
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Competent in performing all aspects of steel estimating and project coordination
  • Ability to read, interpret and fully comprehend engineering specifications, engineered design drawings, specifications, scope of work, tender documents, and contracts
  • Motivated, goal oriented, self-starter, who thrives in a team environment, but can also work well with little or no supervision
  • Able to document and organize a complex stream of information and paperwork efficiently
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience in Bluebeam, Tekla, and, or, StruMis is desired, but not required
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • Review of all tender documentation as part of the scope of work
  • Preparation of material takeoffs, evaluation of labour costs and subcontract cost proposals
  • Work closely with project and department managers on coordination and administration duties
  • Advise the team on potential issues regarding contract interpretation and cost control
  • Manage the processing of change orders, related estimates, and contract documents
  • Remain current with the CISC Code of Standard Practice and the BC Building Code
  • Continually communicate any tender updates, market intelligence, and any other information which may affect the overall profitability of the firm
